The exhibition of the Joan Mirò Foundation Joaquín Gomis. Mercè 1969 recovers the atmosphere of the Rambla, the music bands and the majorettes that transport us to the Mercè parties of 1969, which are 45 years old today, through a selection of festive pictures.
Joaquim Gomis was the first president of the Foundation, an entrepreneur and an amateur photographer who was very active in the cultural circles of the Barcelona of the post-war. This artist’s photographic archive contains about 70,000 entries and a large art of his material remains unpublished. What is highlighted in this particular small format exhibition is his facet as an observer of the traditions of his hometown, Barcelona.
